Our History and Mission

At Pittsburgh Plumbers Local 27, we take pride in our rich history that spans over 129 years. Founded in the late 1800s, we have been serving the Pittsburgh community with pride and dedication. Our journey began as affiliations with the Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labor, and in 1889, we were granted a charter by the United Association. With a humble beginning of approximately 90 craftsmen, we have grown to become one of the top quality plumbers in Pittsburgh.

Our Services

As a unionized organization, we employ Local 27 members in various construction applications. Our workforce takes pride in partnering with our signatory contractors to provide sophisticated piping systems to end users. From underground installation to final connections of fixtures and equipment, our plumbers require all the physical and mental skills needed to get the job done right the first time. Whether in the heavy industrial, commercial, or residential sectors of the construction industry, we strive to deliver exceptional results.

Training and Education

No other organization serves the training needs of the piping industry like the United Association. For over a century, the UA has been training the most highly-qualified workers in the United States and Canada. Our apprenticeship program provides a comprehensive five-year training program, with continuing education throughout your career to stay at the forefront of the industry. Our journeyman and apprentice plumbers are among the best trained in the world.
