Our union, Local Union 189, has proudly served the plumbing and mechanical piping industry in Columbus, Ohio, for over 125 years. We are a strong organization dedicated to representing the skilled professionals who build, maintain, and repair the infrastructure that shapes our community.

Our History

Local Union 189 has a rich history dating back to 1889. From humble beginnings with 28 founding members, we have grown into one of the largest and most respected plumbing and mechanical piping unions in the state. Throughout our history, we have fought for advancements in working conditions, skills development, and industry standards.
